I am currently waiting for some of my new apps to be approved in both the Apple Mac App Store and the App Store for iOS. The review system has become more and more erratic recently: I have an app approved and available on the Mac App Store but ...rejected multiple times for iOS with frivolous motivations: functionality similar to a website? Not really as it uses sentiment analysis to analyse news.
I hope it doesn't turn into a waste of time (at least the Mac Version can be distributed even without the App Store!).
During the wait I spent some time checking new typefaces and I came across Carlito (google-crosextrafonts-carlito) an Open Source font made by Google metric compatible with Calibri.
So I came up with my own version: Hammerkopf! 🔨 here is how it looks like
The main difference are the "a", the "g" the punctuation and the dots that are squared and not round.
I think it looks very good. It is not a huge change but it does give a different feel to the typeface. Even for such small changes I spent at least a few hours with FontLab 7.
I have also finished the Italic versions where the differences are a bit more obvious:
I have also added a new weight: heavy available also as italic. I found it very useful for headlines! this weight is not available in Carlito and I don't think it exist in Calibri either.
~~Not very interesting for a release so I will continue to fine tune it for my own use perhaps but if you are curious you can download it.~~ updated on 28/2/2021 now released as it is good enough :)
But..what is Hammerkopf? is a bird 🐦 (English Version)
